Marist Always Pilgrimage
Walking in the Footsteps of St. Marcellin Champagnat
Each year after graduation, Seniors who attend Marist Schools USA are invited to walk in the footsteps of St. MarcellinChampagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers. As these young Marists begin their journey into Young Adulthood we go to explore and reflect on the foundations of our Marist Family in France.
Our Pilgrimage begins at the Basilica of Our Lady of Fourvire in Lyon, France, the site where Champagnat and the first Marists pledged to found the Society of Mary.

From there we continue to l'Hermitage, the house that Fr. Champagant and the early Brothers built. That will be our base for the week, as go from there each day to explore important sites of key events in our Marist history including the Memorare in the Snow, the dying Montagne Boy, and the first Marist Community at LaValla. We will also include time visiting Le Puy and the village of Taize.
